Loved by 90% of all Americans, there’s no denying that ice cream may very well be America’s cold, creamy, sweetheart. Perhaps one of the reasons why Americans love ice cream so is due to the many ways that it can be enjoyed. From frozen yogurt, to gelato, to ice cream cones, there’s no end to the fun that can be had with America’s favorite frozen treat.
Check out these 3 ways to enjoy ice cream, so the next time you’re in the mood for the treat, you’ll know exactly how you want to eat it!
Ice Cream Cone
While this is perhaps the messiest way to eat ice cream, sometimes ice cream cups and spoons just don’t cut it. Originally dubbed cornets, ice cream cones are considered to be pastries. Cones are made with either waffle batter or with wagers and the first recipes for them date all the way back to 1825. However, ice cream cones only made it big in the 1900s and have been in the hearts and minds of ice cream eaters ever since.
Gelato
This variety of ice cream originated in Italy, and is marked by a few key differences. Firstly, gelato is denser and creamer, churned with slightly less air with a slightly lower fat content. This gives it a smoother texture that changes the way we consume it entirely. For example, gelato spoons are crafted differently than regular ice cream spoons. Instead, they are small and shovel-shaped, which makes the dense, creamy treat easier to eat.
Frozen Yogurt
Frozen yogurt rose to fame in the 80s, lauded for its lower fat content and healthier guise. While it remained steadily popular until the 1990s, the craze really exploded in the 2000s when self-serve stations rose to popularity. With frozen yogurt, you can mix, match, and snack to your liking.
